Flower

Flower Shape

Insert a new layer.

Go to Tools and select Shapes

Go to the options bar and change the shape type to Gear.

Change the fill type to Fill Only.

Set your primary color for your flower to red/pink/purple/orange.

Draw your gear quite big to start.

Now go to Effects > Noise > Median

Play with the Radius slider until your gears are curved like this…

Select the Move tool, then click on the canvas and drag in the corners to make the flower about this size.

CTRL+D to deselect (get rid out dotted outline).

Double-click on the layer name and change it to “flower”.

Select the Ellipse Select tool

Click and drag over the inside empty area to select it like this…

Then Backspace to fill it with the same color as the rest of the flower.

Click on the canvas somewhere to get rid of the dotted outline.

Center

Insert a new layer and rename it “center”.

Select the Ellipse shape tool and set the primary color to yellow.

Draw a circle in the middle of your flower.

Stem & Leaves

Insert a new layer and rename it “stem”.

Change your primary color to green.

Select the Line/Curve Tool. Choose the 2nd option…

Then in the options bar, change the thickness to 20.

Start by dragging out a straight line from the flower to the bottom. Then push/pull the middle circles to create curves.

Move the stem layer below the flower layer.

It should now be behind the flower.

So far your flower looks like this…

To draw the leaves, change the Shape tool to the Heart shape…

Drag out a heart – move/rotate it so it fits over the stem.

Dirt

Set the primary color to a dark brown.

Select the Brush tool.

Set the thickness to 100, and the edge/hardness to 100%.

Insert a new layer (below stem) and rename it “dirt”.

Draw in some dirt behind the flower, going up to about the leaves…

Add a new layer (above stem). Rename it “dirt”.

Go to Colors > More … and play with the S or V sliders to make a lighter shade of brown…

Brush in dirt lower like this…

Sky

Select the Background layer.

Set your color to blue. To get lighter colors again, go to More colors and then adjust the V slider first (all the way to the right) and then click on the color wheel – you can adjust the S slider more if needed.

Select the Gradient Tool.

Click and drag straight down. [Enter] or click on another layer to finish the gradient.

Insert a new layer and name it “sun”.

Use the Ellipse shape tool

Set to yellow, and draw a sun in the top corner. Click off to set the shape…

Blur Effects

Sun

Select the sun layer.

Go to Effects > Blur > Gaussian Blur

Slide the radius slider more to the right…

Flower Center

Select the center layer.

Go to Effects > Blurs > Fragment... increase the distance to 20.

Crystalize Effect

Dirt

Select the bottom dirt layer.

Go to Effects > Distort >Crystalize … play with the settings a bit if you like.

Select the top dirt layer and Effects > Repeat Crystalize

Glow Effects

Flower

Select the flower layer.

Go to Effects > Photo > Glow.

Adjust the Brightness slider to get what you like.

You should have something like this…

Now select the stem layer … and Effects > Repeat Glow

Clouds

Add a new layer

Make sure it’s at the top; rename it ‘clouds’.

Make sure your colors are set to default (black & white).

Then go to Effects > Render > Clouds – default settings.

Your layer will look like this…

Go to Effects > Artistic > Oil Painting … and slide the Brush size to the right.

Double-click on the clouds layer to open up the layer properties…

Change blend mode to Overlay

Reduce the opacity to about 150

Your flower will now look like this…

You should have these layers…
