Filter Gallery: Poster Edges
Select the photo layer to start adding filters…

Go to Filter > Filter Gallery … Artistic > Poster Edges … (2, 4, 2).

You should now see a Smart Filter in the Layers panel.

Filter Gallery: Cutout
Go to Filter Gallery again, this time to Artistic > Cutout… settings (8, 4, 2)

Double-click on the right side of the “Filter Gallery” smart filter…

… and change the blend mode to Multiply, and reduce the opacity to 70%.

Filter: Color Halftone
Go to Filter > Pixelate > Color Halftone (6)

Double-click on the right side of the Color Halftone for the layer.

Change the blend mode to Soft Light and reduce opacity to about 60%.

Now the photo looks like this…

Rectangle
Go to the Rectangle tool … to add a rectangle shape along the bottom.
- Fill = white
- Outline = black (thickness 10)

Text
Then select the Text tool.

Set the font type to Postino, font size to 72pt.

If you don’t have that font go to Class Materials > resources and double-click on the BD_Cartoon_Shout and install it on your computer.

Click anywhere on the canvas (do not click & drag!) and type the letter “T”. Move it to the left side of the box, leaving a bit of room beside it.

Change the font size to 48.

Add more text – click anywhere on the canvas and type the name of the movie without the first letter: hor: The Dark World”. Then move it down over the rectangle, leaving a bit of space on the left. If the text doesn’t all fit in the rectangle, select the rectangle layer and CTRL+T to resize it.

Add layer styles:

- Color Overlay (set to red or another bright color) and
- Stroke to black (thickness 10).

Select the “T” layer and CTRL+T and make it bigger; [Enter] to apply the size.

Adjust the position of the movie name and the size of the rectangle as needed.

Select the text layers and group them (CTRL+G). Rename the folder “Text”.

Border
Select the photo layer, then add a blank layer above it. Rename it “border”.

Use the Rectangle Marquee tool to select a small rectangle along the top of the canvas. Start outside the top-left edge, going across and off the right edge.

Set your colors to default (‘D‘); Then fill the area with black using ALT+Backspace.

CTRL+D to deselect (or left-click anywhere on the canvas).
Now drag an area along the bottom, and fill it with black

You should have something like this…

If you are using the BD Cartoon Shout font type, it will look more like this…

Rotate
Select all the layers except Background. Then CTRL+T and rotate it like this…

[Enter] to apply the transformation.
Crop
Now use the Crop Tool and adjust to the corners. [Enter] to apply. Make sure the box is unchecked for deleting cropped pixels.

Select the text folder and CTRL+T, moving the text and rectangle to the bottom left area like this…

[Enter] to apply.
Adjustment layer: Pattern

Change Photo
Go into the photo smart object…

Paste your own photo into the PSB document and resize using CTRL+T so it’s covering the canvas.

[Enter] to apply transformation and save. Then go back to your main document and see how it looks. In my example, you can see it’s too dark!

Go back to the PSB file and add a Brightness/Contrast adjustment layer – brighten up the photo.

Save it and see if it’s better.

Change Text
Duplicate the Text folder (CTRL+J) and hide the original.

Change the text/words – double-click on the “T” for each text layer and change to different words/letters.

If you want, you can change the color, pick something from the new photo.
