Body
Body 1
Insert a new layer, rename it “body”.


Go to Shape Tool… and set it to the Ellipse shape

In the tool options bar, set the fill to Outline & Fill and set the size/thickness to 10.


Go to the Colors palette:
- left-click to set the Primary color to orange
- then right-click in the same area to set the Secondary color to the same orange
- then click on More>> … make sure you’re on the Primary color and drag the S or V slider to get a darker shade of that color


Zoom out the canvas one “-” click so you can see the whole canvas…

… then draw out an oval that almost fills it, leaving a little more room on the top.

Body 2
Duplicate the body layer.


Then click on the Move tool.

Click on the canvas. Then squish the sides (hover over side circles and drag in)

Body 3
Duplicate the body one more time and squish it.



CTRL+D to deselect (get rid of the dotted outline).

Merge
Merge the layers together…



Gradient
Add a new layer – name it “gradient”


Select the Gradient tool, then set it to “Radial” type…


Set the colors back to default, then set the Primary color to a bright color and the Secondary color to darker orange.

Click and drag from the middle of the canvas out like this…

Double-click on the layer to open up the properties and change the blend mode to Glow and reduce the opacity until you have nice colors like this…



Stem
Add a new layer, rename it “stem”.


Select the Shape tool … change it to Trapezoid.


Set the color to green.

Then drag out a stem about this size near the top of the pumpkin.

Go to Effects > Distort > Twist …

Play with the direction & size until you get something like this…


Select the Move tool and click on the canvas, then squish it down a bit so you have enough room for the eyes etc.


CTRL+D or [Enter] to deselect.

Lines
Eyebrows
Add a new layer, rename it “eyebrows”


Select the Line/Curve tool…

Choose a dark color…

Draw a straight line on the top-left area like this, then push/pull the circle handles to create an eyebrow. Repeat for another straight line on the right and curve it…




Mouth
Add another new layer, rename it “mouth”.


Set the Line/Curve tool to draw straight lines…

- Draw the mouth edge on the left.
- Draw another line, then pull it out like this…
- Draw another line beside and and pull out like this…
- Draw the right edge of the mouth






Use the Move tool to move it over/down so you have room for the eyes…


CTRL+D / [Enter] to get rid of the dotted lines…

Eyes
Eye Shape
Add a new layer, rename it “eye’.


Select the Shape tool… set it back to the Ellipse shape.


Draw out a big oval like this…

Switch the color so the Primary color is white…

Then draw an oval for the eye…

Switch the color back to the dark color…

Draw another oval at the bottom like this…

Then use the Ellipse Select tool – draw an oval, adjust it with the white arrow tool and Delete…



…repeating until you have something like this…

Other Eye
Duplicate the eye layer.


Use the Move tool to move it over. Then CTRL+D to deselect.



Inside Eye
Add another new layer, rename it “inside eye”.

Switch to a color for the eyes… and draw a circle inside the white area… click off to set the shape.



Set the color to default (black/white) and draw a pupil.


Then draw a small white circle at the top…


Duplicate the inside layer…


Use the Move tool to move it over…


CTRL+D to deselect.

Background Gradient
Make the Background layer active…

With the colors still white to black, , select the Gradient tool


Draw out from the middle…


[Enter] to set the gradient and you’re done.
