Remove Background
Select the man layer. Then go to Properties tab and Remove Background.


You will then have a layer mask like this…

Clipping Mask
Now make the mountains layer visible.

Then turn it into a clipping mask: use one of the following methods…
- hold ALT and hover between the layers, then click when you see the arrow
- right-click on the mountains layer and Create Clipping Mask
- keyboard shortcut ALT+CTRL+G
It should then have an arrow like this…


You will now see the mountains only inside the man…

Blend Mode
Change the layer blend mode for the mountains layer to Screen.


Adjust Mountains
CTRL+T on the mountains and make it bigger and rotate it so the trees are near the front of the head and nothing in the back of his head. Click on Done or [Enter] to apply/finish the transformation.



Curves for Head
Add an adjustment layer Curves.


Go to the Properties tab and click on the white eyedropper…

Then click on the back of the head (try in different areas) to get this…


If you need to start over, click on the reset button at the bottom of the Curves Properties panel…

Adjust Birds
Show the birds layer.

Change the blend mode for the birds layer to Multiply.


Adjust Birds
CTRL+T to resize and rotate the birds so they’re angled and over the head area like this…

[Enter] or click on Done.
Curves for Birds
Add an adjustment layer Curves.


Go to Properties, select the white eye dropper…

Click on the darker edges of the birds to make the greys lighter.

Click until you have the grey gone…

Turn it into a clipping mask (hold ALT and hover between layers)…


This should make the mountains picture showing more like this…
