The Liquify Tool is found under the Filter menu…
Start by copying this photo into Photoshop.
- Duplicate the face layer (CTRL+J).
- Right-click on it and Convert to Smart Object.
Liquify Tool
Go to Filter>Liquify…
In the new window that opens, you will use the tools on the top-left. If you make a mistake or want to go back, use the Reconstruct Tool to brush over what you want to go back to the original.
Ear
Start with the Forward Warp tool. Adjust the size of the brush using the [ and ] keys. Push out from inside the edge of the ear out to create your shape. Make sure you don’t push in the bottom part of the ear (otherwise you’ll have the original ear showing underneath later).
Nose
Make the nose pointier or thinner using the Pucker Tool.
Chin & Jawline
Make the chin pointier/longer and push in the jawline a bit using the Forward Warp Tool.
Eyes
Use the Face Tool and you can change the size/angle of the eyes without squishing the pupils.
Face
You can also use the Face Tool to play with the width of the face.
When you’re done and say OK
Your layers will look like this…
Clean up around ear
When you’re out of the Liquify window, you’ll notice that the hair/edge around the ear is blurry, wavy.
Make the mask part of the Liquify filter active.
Select the Brush tool
Make sure your colors are default (black = foreground).
Go to the Options Bar and set the brush size to about 20px and hardness to about 80%.
Brush around the edge of the ear and outward…
You will see a little bit of black on the Liquify mask.
Burn
Add an adjustment layer … Curves.
In Properties, push the middle down a bit…
…so your photo looks darker.
Now make the mask part of the layer active and fill with black by inverting it (CTRL+I).
Then select the Brush tool – make it totally soft, about size 60.
Set the foreground color to white and brush on the neck, jawline, around the eyes and on the mouth a bit.
You should get something like this…
Opacity
Then reduce the opacity a bit so it’s not too harsh.
