Planet
Click on the clouds photo below and copy it into a new PS document (1500x1000px).

Rename the layer “clouds” and delete the Background layer.

Click on the planet photo below and copy it into the document.

CTRL+T > Flip Horizontal … then resize/move it like this…


Rename the layer “planet”. Then change the blend mode to Overlay.



Stars
Click on the stars photo below and copy it into the document.

Rename the layer “stars”; change blend mode to Screen.


Convert to Smart Object…


Levels
Go to Image > Adjustments > Levels …


…change the black slider to “60”.


Color Balance
Image > Adjustments > Color Balance … set to Highlights, use the sliders to change Cyan to about -34, Magenta to 59



Cliff
Click on the cliff photo below and copy the full-size image into the document.

CTRL+T to move it to the bottom corner like this…

Rename the layer to “cliff” and Convert to Smart Object.


Selective Color
Go to Image > Adjustments > Selective Color …

Change the drop-down option to Neutrals, then change the sliders for Cyan (28), Magenta (9), Yellow (7), Black (3)


Color Balance
Image >Adjustments > Color Balance … change Cyan (-8), Blue (22)



Exposure
Image > Adjustments > Exposure … drag the Exposure slider to about -3.5



Make the mask part of the filters active, then use the Brush tool (about size 200, soft), black.




Add Color
Add a new layer; name it “color”. Make it a clipping mask.


Choose a light blue color from the planet area.


Use the Brush tool – draw over the edge of the cliff

Select a light blue color (#40b1ff). Then use the Brush tool and brush over the edge of the cliff…

Change the layer blend mode to Overlay.


Inner Shadow
With the cliff layer active, add a layer style … Inner Shadow


Set the color to light blue (#71d3ff), blend mode Linear Dodge (Add), angle 45, distance and size 10, and reduce the opacity to 20%


Hiker
Make the color layer active.

Copy the photo of the hiker below. Paste it into PS (CTRL+V); it should paste into a new layer at the top, rename it “hiker”.


CTRL+T … make it smaller and move it onto the cliff like this…


Convert to Smart Object

Hue/Saturation
Go to Image >Adjustments > Hue/Saturation … drag the Lightness slider down to -35.


Make the mask part of the Smart Filter active, and brush on the top/right side of the hiker so it looks like the light is on the hiker as he’s facing the planet.


Double-click on the arrows for the Hue/Saturation filter … change the blend mode to Multiply.



Inner Shadow
Then add layer style Inner Shadow (with the same color/settings as before).


Shadow
Select the color layer, then add a new blank layer above it; rename it “shadow”.


Then change the blend mode to Multiply, reduce opacity to 70%.

Choose a dark blue color and brush below the feet to the front of the rocks like this…


You’re done, your layers should look like this…
