Hills
Your starting file should look like this…
Hill 1
Set your foreground color to a green color (I’m using #67b512).
Select the Custom Shape Tool.
On the left-side of the Options bar, set the Stroke to have no color.
Then go to the top-right to the Shapes tab … and open the Hills folder…
Open the Hills folder and choose the 1st one.
Click and drag out the shape to about 1/2 the height of the canvas like this.
Click off and you should see this…
Rename the layer to “hill 1”. Your layer should look like this…
Hill 2
Choose the 2nd hill shape.
Change the fill color to a lighter green (I’m using #7ecf26)
Drag it out across the canvas so it’s lower that the first hills.
Click off to see this…
Rename the top hill layer as “hill2”
If you want to change the hill colors, double-click on the layer thumbnails one-at-a-time…
Now you can fit the canvas in view again: CTRL+0 (or double-click on the Hand Tool).
Sun
Insert a new blank layer…
Rename it “sun”
Select the Brush Tool …
Go to the top-right Brushes tab …
Go into the Spring Collection folder, expand the Sky folder and select any sun shape.
Set the foreground color to a light yellow…
Now click to draw a sun off the top left corner…
Clouds
Reset colors to default (D), then switch (X) so white = the foreground…
Insert a new blank layer.
Rename it “clouds”.
Select the cloud brush type…
Draw one cloud off the top right corner, and the other one in the middle…
Trees
First tree (tucked between hills)
Insert a new blank layer, name it “tree1”.
Set your foreground color to a medium/dark grey.
Select a tree brush.
Draw the tree on the right side of the canvas…
Then click and drag the tree layer below the top hill layer. Let go and it should be here…
You should see it tucked behind the first hill.
Second Tree (front left)
For the second tree, select the top layer and insert a new blank layer above it, name it “tree2″…
Use a different brush type, then make it bigger in the Options bar (about 1000 px).
Draw it off the front left…
Grass
Insert a new blank layer at the top, name it ‘grass 1’
Choose the first grass brush…
Set the foreground color to a dark green color (this will be the darkest shade of green, the other grass will be lighter)…
Click and draw grass along the bottom…
Insert another blank layer, call it ‘grass2’
Change the brush type to the 2nd one…
Change the foreground to a lighter shade of green…
Draw grass along the bottom, filling in areas…
Insert a new blank layer, call it ‘grass 3’…
Change the foreground to a lighter green…
Choose the 3rd type of grass brush…
Draw and fill in areas on the bottom…
So you have 3 grass layers like this…
Stuff in Grass
Look at the brush options. You will add stuff rom these folders…
Set colors to default (D) and switch (X) so white is foreground.
Flower
Insert a new blank layer, call it ‘flower’ – and make sure it’s underneath ‘grass 3’.
Choose a flower brush type and resize it so whatever you draw fits inside the grass…
Other
Insert another new blank layer, call it ‘other’…
Choose a butterfly or leaf or other foliage to put inside the grass.
Once you draw it, you can CTRL+T to rotate the shape… hover near an edge and when you get the 2-pointed arrow, you can click and drag to rotate it a bit (you can also move it a bit off the edge)…
When you [Enter], it will apply the transformation…
Animals
Animal in tree
Insert a new blank layer, call it ‘animal 1’…
Choose an animal brush type from this folder.
Change the size to 200px and drag it in one of the trees…
Other Animal
Insert another new layer, call it ‘animal 2’.
Select another animal brush type and set the size to about 400px. Draw it somewhere on your canvas (on the ground or in the air)…
Texture
Make sure you’re on the top layer, then add an adjustment layer … choose Pattern.
Go to the PHOTOSHOP PATTERNS folder, and then choose the 4th pattern “Dark Coarse Weave”, leave it at 100%.
Change the layer blend mode to ‘Overlay’.
Before continuing on to other projects, reset the Brush tool to the default.
