Slide #7: School

Insert a new slide.

Change the Layout to Comparison

  1. Type “School” in the title box.
  2. Type “I like” and “I don’t like” in the subtitle boxes.
  3. Type out 2 list items on each side.

Go to Insert > Pictures …

Choose Online Pictures …search for what you want (including “cartoon” in your search terms makes it easier to find ones with transparent backgrounds).

Now uncheck the box for Creative commons only…

Go to Filter …

… and choose Transparent.

If you don’t find good results with this, you can just search for something like “computer student” and Filter by “Clipart”.

Select 3-4 pictures you like and Insert.
Hopefully you have at least one that has a transparent background.

At first they are all selected (see the circles around each one)…

Click off so none are selected…

Then move them out of the way and resize them to see which one you like best.

  • If any of them have a white background, Delete them.
  • Keep only the ones with transparent backgrounds.
  • Keep just one and move it into the empty area at the bottom below/beside the “Like” list.

Now find another transparent clip art picture for something in your “Don’t Like” list.

If your picture comes in with a text box, that’s because you didn’t uncheck the Creative Commons only box. You will have to select the text box and Delete it.

Slide #8: Seasons

Insert a new slide.

You have 2 options for this slide…

  • Option #1: Seasons – where you add the 4 seasons in either list (so long as you have at least 1 in each slide).
  • Option #2: One Season – where you focus on just one season and things you like & don’t like about that season

For pictures, go to Insert > Pictures > Online Pictures again and search for transparent pictures – one for something in each list.

So at this point you should have a total of 9 slides.

Animations

Start by going to the Animation tab and open the Animation Pane.

For each comparison slide, follow the same steps:

Left List

  1. Animate text: click in the left list box and add green animation.
  1. Expand the list in the Animation Pane.
  1. Animate picture: add green animation to picture for the left list.
  1. With Previous: change the Start so no number in the Animation Pane.
  1. Picture Order: move the animation up under the matching bullet if needed. On the slide, the picture and matching bullet should have the same number.

Right List

  1. Click in the right list box and add green animation.
  2. Expand the list.
  1. Select the picture for the right list and add a green animation
  1. Change the Start to With Previous and move it up if needed so it’s coming in with the matching bullet.

The pictures should have matching #s on the slide.

Test it out

Make sure the pictures come in automatically with the matching bullets.

  • Go to View Current Slide (or SHIFT+F5) and click through both your slides.
  • Hit Esc to stop watching.
