Getting Started

Open the Starting File

Go to your folders. Then go to your COMP 7 folder on the left, and double-click on the “Year in Review” PPT file to open it.

You should see slides like this when opened…

Turn off Designer Suggestions

Go to the File tab at the top-left. Then go to the bottom, to “Options”.

In the window that opens, uncheck the box for PowerPoint Designer; then click on OK to close the window.

Right-click on the taskbar and Pin to taskbar

Slide #1

On the first slide:

  1. Type the year you are focusing on in the title box.
  2. Add your name in the subtitle box.

Rename the File

Click on the file name “Year in Review” at the top and change the name to the year and your name after.

When you [Enter], the new name will show up at the top…

Music Folder

  1. Go back to your folder and click on OneDrive folder on the left.
  2. Go into the Teams sync drive “CMS – COMPUTERS 7 – General”
  1. Go into the MUSIC folder.
  2. Go into the folder for your year.

You don’t need to listen to songs – you can choose any random songs. If you want to listen to them to make your decisions, sign out headphones.

Song Text

Scroll down to the “Top Songs” list…

  1. Select the singer name and copy it (CTRL+C).
  2. Paste it into the title box on your first empty slide.
    CTRL+V or use the Paste button.
  1. Select and copy the song including the quotation marks.
  2. Paste it in the subtitle box on the same slide.
  1. Reset the slide to get rid of any formatting from the website (you should notice the yellow song text being thicker).

Repeat for 4 more songs/slides:

  1. Copy and paste the singer text
  2. Copy and paste the song text
  3. Reset the slide

MP3s

Go back to the MUSIC folder for your year. Select the song file for the first song slide, then click and copy or drag it over to the top/right corner of the slide.

Repeat for the other 4 song slides: drag the MP3 over.

Photos

Scroll down past the list of songs to get the photos. Right-click on the singer’s photo for your first song and Copy image

Use the Paste button or use the keyboard shortcut (CTRL+V).

Move it over to the empty area on the left. If you need to make it smaller/bigger, make sure to resize from a corner handle, not the top/side handles!

Add pictures to other song slides…

Picture Styles

For each song slide, select the picture, then go to Picture Format tab and add a Quick Style.

  • tall picture: tilted/rounded
  • square picture: angled/oval style to fill the left area

If you have a wide picture or longer song name, use flattened style to fill top area

Your slides should look like this so far…

Get your project checked so far…

Animate Text

Make sure you’re on any song slide…

Then go to View > Slide Master.

This should take you to view the templates for the slides which you will see on the left. Make sure you are on the Section Layout one.

Title Box

Click in the title box.

Then go to the Animations tab and use the drop-down menu to choose Bounce.

Click on the More Options button on the ribbon

.. change “Animate Text” from All at once to By letter.

Subtitle Box

Click in the bottom text box…

Add green animation Float In.

Click on the More Options button and set to come in By Letter.

Your slide should have a “1” and “2” beside the boxes as shown below…

If you click Preview, it should look like this…

Keep your project open in Slide Master view and get the animation checked off…
