Lock the background layer
Lock the ‘Background’ layer, that contains everything but the boat. Hover over the layer under the lock icon, then click to lock it.
Create graphic symbol
The first step in creating a tween based animation is to convert all relevant objects to symbols. Select the boat near the bottom-right of the stage (click and drag over the area).
When you let go, you should see a blue box around the boat and the waves are blue…
Go to the Properties panel > Object … and Convert to Symbol.
In the box that pops up, give it the name ‘boat’ and set the type to Graphic, then click on OK to close the window.
On the stage it now looks like this…
Resize and Position the boat
In the Properties > Object … click on the lock icon to lock the height and width values together. Then set the W to 50.
Then click and drag the boat down off stage on the left as shown below…
Extend the timeline and reposition the boat
Scroll the Timeline to the right until you see frame 500. Click on frame 500 of ‘Ship’ layer and hold SHIFT, then click on frame 500 of ‘Background’ layer.
Click ‘Insert Auto keyframe‘ button in the Timeline.
You should then see dots, means they’re now keyframes.
Now move the boat to the top-right edge of the stage.
Create Classic Tween
Click anywhere on the boat layer (frame 1-499) and click on ‘Create Classic Tween‘ button.
You will then see the ‘boat’ layer with a purple arrow.
View the animation by clicking on Test Movie button on the top right.
