Day 1: Computers 8

Teams

  1. Go to the list on the left and choose Teams
  2. Click on the “COMPUTERS” class.
  1. Go to the Files tab at the top.
  2. Hover over Class Materials – when it’s underlined, click on it.

Once you’re in Class Materials, click on Sync.

You should get a small pop-up window, with a bigger one for OneDrive. when the bigger one disappears…

… and you’re left with the small one, click on Close.

To make sure it worked, go to File Explorer (the folder icon on the taskbar).

If you see the Chilliwack School District at the top-left, then it worked and you can close the Teams app. If you don’t see it, try clicking on Sync again, or ask the teacher for help.

Starting Folder

Click on the Chilliwack School District shortcut on the left…

Double-click on the Class Materials folder…

Click on the COMP 8 folder to select it and copy (CTRL+C).

Go into OneDrive on the left and CTRL+V to paste the folder.

If you have a lot of files in OneDrive, you should organize them into folders and clean them up.

Taskbar

  1. Right-click on Chrome and Pin to taskbar.
  1. Right-click on Store on the taskbar and “Unpin from taskbar”.
  2. Right-click on Edge on the taskbar and “Unpin from taskbar”.

Your taskbar should just have the folder icon and Chrome and Photoshop.

Bookmarks Bar

In Chrome, click on the TYPING link in the navbar.

Go to the new tab and click on the picture/link for Typing.com…

Then click on the star to bookmark the website.

In the window that pops up, click on Done.

Click on the star again and change its location to the Bookmarks Bar and say Done.

Now CTRL+SHIFT+B to show the bookmarks bar, and you should see it here…

Close the typing tab…

Now click on the button below to open your class webpage…

Bookmark it and it should also show up on the bookmarks bar.

Getting Started: HTML Project

Starting Folder

Go into your OneDrive > COMP 8 folder.

Then go into the HTML project folder.

Choose a Topic

Here are 6 topics (with given text & photos):

Film Series:

  1. Avengers

Animated Movies:

  1. Up
  2. The Incredibles
  3. Frozen
  4. Despicable Me

  2. Minecraft
  3. Roblox
  4. Super Smash Bros

Open home page in Chrome

Go into the folder for the topic you want to do.

Double-click on the home file to see it in Chrome.

The home page will look something like this…

Bookmark the page. It should be showing like this…

Open home page in Notepad++

Right-click on the home file, and Edit in Notepad++.

It will look something like this…

Pin to taskbar

Right-click on the program icon in the taskbar and pin it.
