No starting file? Get the table and text set up

Table Layout

Go to your folders…

Go to the COMP 7 shortcut on the left … go into WORD and double-click on the “Despicable Me” starting file…

The starting file looks like this…

Zoom out to about 70% so you can see the entire page.

Bottom Margin

Now make sure you are seeing the Ruler. If not, go to VIEW>… and check the box for Ruler.

Hover over the Ruler where the margin stars (white/grey), when you get a 2-pointed arrow and it says Bottom Margin, pull down to the 1/2″ mark.

Column widths

Click in each column, one-at-a-time. Click in the width box, type the number and [Enter] to set it.

  • Click in Column 1 and set the column width to = .8
  • Click in Column 2 and set the column width to = 1.7
  • Click in Column 3 and set the column width to = 4

Your table should now look like this…

Row Heights

Select the entire table by clicking on the 4-pointed arrow.

Set the row height to 1.6″ (you can type in 1.6 and [Enter] instead of using the arrows)

Your table should now be like this…

Format Text

Font type

  1. Select everything on your page (CTRL+A)
  2. Set it all font type Kristen ITC and pump it up to size 14.

Font Sizes

  1. Page Heading: size 48
  2. Column 1 = size 48
  3. Column 2 = size 22
  4. Column 3 = default, 14

Alignment

Page Heading

Select the page heading and center it.

Cell Alignment

Select the table … then go to Layout and set cell alignment to middle-middle.

You should see the a bit of empty space above & below words now…

Borders

Select the table again … then go to the Borders button…

… and use the drop-down menu to go to Borders & Shading…

In the window that opens:

  1. Choose a style (dotted or dashed)
  2. Choose a color
  3. Set the width to 2 1/4 pt
  4. Click on None
  5. Now click on the middle line to see it in the Preview area.
  6. OK to close

You now have something like this…

Matching Font Colors

Select the page heading and change the font color to the same color as the border line.

Select the first column of numbers and set to the same font color.

And you’re done.
