Animations
Animate Text
Go into Slide Master View…
Select the top/master layout, with the “1” beside it.
Go to the Animations tab.
- Click in the title box
- Add Fade animation
- Open the Animation Pane
- Double-click on the title animation.
- In the window that opens, change it to come in by letter.
- Click on OK.
- Click in the list box
- Also add Fade animation.
- Double-click on the Text Placeholder animation in the Animation Pane
- Set it to come in “by letter”.
- Click on OK.
In the Animation Pane, right-click on either animation and choose Hide Advanced Timeline.
You should now see a mouse icon beside the animations like this…
Go back to Normal View…
Now on all your slides, the Animation Pane should look like this…
Animate Pictures
Go to your first list slide and select all the pictures. Add any green animation.
In the Animation Pane, right-click on the first Picture animation (“1”, mouse icon), and change start to With Previous. It should now have “0” and no mouse icon.
Go to the other slides and do the same:
- Select all the pictures and add a green animation.
- Change the Start to With Previous (no mouse, “0”).
Picture Order
On each slide, right-click on either Master animation and Copy Effects to Slide.
You should see the Title animation (“1”) and Content or the text box animations (“2″…)
On all the list slides expand the Content list so you see each bullet/text animation.
Change the picture order – select each picture on the slide and drag the Picture animation that is highlighted up under the matching bullet animation.
Design
Theme
Choose a Theme for your presentation. Then choose the Variant/Color scheme.
Choose one of the following themes:
You can also choose a Variant, or go to Colors…
Headings
Go to View > Slide Master …
Select the top Master Layout (the one with the “1” beside it).
You start with something like this…
Optional: hide extra text boxes
Hide extra text boxes by unchecking the Footer box on the Slide Master tab.
Heading Font Size
Change the font type and size (usually about 54), and add a Quick Style so it stands out.
Title Box Size
Adjust the width of the title box so it goes across the slide and text fits on one line.
Make the height of the title box bigger/smaller:
- so it’s not taking up more space than one line of words.
- so it fits the cursor.
Here are the headings done for other themes…
Align Left
For the following themes, click in the title box and align to the left.
Flip Graphic
For the theme Vapor Trail
- align the text to the left
- select the wavy graphic at the top
- go to the Picture Format tab and flip it horizontally.
Text Box
Font Size
Select the text in the box…
Use the drop-down menu to increase font size to 24.
Do not pump it up to 24+ (because then the smallest is 24, but the first bullet will be huge!)
Text Box Size & Position
- Move the text box left/up so it’s hugging the title box.
- Reduce the width of the text box to about 1/2 the slide.
Align to Top
If the text/list is not aligned to the top of the box, select the box (or click inside) and go to the Home tab. In the Paragraph section, click on the Align Text button and choose Top.
Repeat on the 3rd layout down…
Berlin
- Select the 3rd layout on the left side and see if your heading is in the middle of the grey bar vertically.
- If it isn’t, go back to the top/master layout, select the title box and move it down (can use arrow keys).
You may have to go back & forth a few times between these layouts to get it right.
Go to Normal View and see how the list slides look.
Adjust pictures so they’re not covering any titles/text.
Title Box too small
The Facet theme doesn’t trickle the master heading font size down to the list slides. Go back into Slide Master View … pump up the heading font size to 54 (or whatever size you have in the top/maser layout).
Back in Normal View…
Colored Line
The problem with these themes is the colored line needs to be moved.
Go into Slide Master View and move the colored line under the heading (make width of slide); then adjust the list box to hug the title box.
Two Content Slides
Go down to one of your Two Content slides…
Then go into Slide Master…
- remove extra lines – keep just first bullet line.
- remove bullets (Backspace or click on Bullets button on the Home tab).
- adjust the size of the first text box so it’s on the Top/Left corner, about 1/2 width
- adjust the size of the second text box so it’s on the Bottom/Right corner, about 1/2 width
- align the 2nd box to the right.
Here are the stages of fixing the Two Content layout in Slide Master for the other themes…
You will also need to adjust the title box position/size and the colored line.
You will need to pump up the text font to size 24 for these themes…
Go back to Normal View. For each slide click on Reset so it’s based on the master layout.
- Adjust text boxes so it fits best for your pictures
- Adjust pictures (size/position) as needed to not covering any text.
Title Slide
Go to the first slide, then go into Slide Master View.
- Click in the title box and pump up the font size to 96.
- Click in the subtitle box and pump up the font size to 36.
- Align both text boxes to the center.
Hide extra boxes (Footers checkbox).
- If the text boxes are not going across the width of the slide, make them wider so they’re even/centered (and position if needed).
For the Parallax theme you can leave the text aligned to the right.
Berlin
- Pump up the title font to 96
- Pump up the subtitle font to 36
- Adjust the size of the title box so it’s a bit lower and up to the top
Savon
This theme does not trickle the heading font type to the Title Slide layout so you will need to change the font type and style to match the other headings first.
Then pump up the fonts to 96 & 36 and center them. The title box is aligned to the middle so reduce the height a bit so you will have it like this…
