Overview
You will choose a theme (choices given at the bottom) and then you will go into Slide Master and make the changes as detailed for your theme.
Slide Master Layouts
- Master Layout: first make the changes to the top layout, the one with the “1” beside it, as this is the master layout that controls the other layouts.
Then you will make changes to these other layouts. You can see if you’re on the right layout by hovering and getting the tool tip pop up with the description as shown below.
- Title & Content: for some themes will you have to move the Year text box here; some themes have lines or other graphic elements you will need to adjust or delete.
- Title Layout: you’ll be making the text bigger, aligning to center
- Section Header Layout: aligning text to the right, adjust font sizes
Master Layout: Title Box
- font type: you can choose any fun/thicker type of font (but not any fonts starting with the letter “A”; scroll down to find a font)
- font style: make sure it makes your headings easy to read and stand out against the background.
- reduce the height of the title box so it fits one line of text
Master Layout: Text Box
- reduce the width of the text/list box to about 1/2
- bullet list must be aligned to the top of the text box; this is the default for most themes, but if it starts in the middle, you will have to change it (you might not see the button name, depending on your toolbar or window width).
Normal View
When you’ve made all the changes, you will go back & forth to Normal View see how the slides look… and back into Slide Master View to make more changes.
On each slide, adjust the pictures (positions/sizes) as needed so they fill the slide but are not covering any titles/text.
